WACP’s Drug Free Communities Grant Program started its eigth year of federally funded operation in October 2010, and has secured funding through September 2013. We are very excited with the direction our program has headed the past several years, including the opening of the Winston Community Teen Center in Spring 2008, and our collaboration with the local community, the Douglas County Commission on Children and Families, and the Winston-Dillard School District, engaging in Developmental Asset building in the Winston community. For more information about what Developmental Assets are, visit the 40 Assets tab on this web-site or visit www.buildourkids.org.

Also, WACP has worked in cooperation with the local Winston Police Department to establish the highly successful “Prescription Drug Take-Back Program”, in which citizens can drop off unused medications at the police department for disposal, thus alleviating the chances of these medications getting into the wrong hands or contaminating our ground water through other means of disposal. If you are interested in getting involved in our efforts to reduce drug use in the Winston Community, please call Linda Cline at (541) 580-7336.
