Growing Healthy Kids Garden
Welcome to the G3 project at Winston Middle School, where youth, school staff, and community volunteers grow together!
The “Growing Healthy Kids” project is focused on establishing Youth/Community Gardens and habitat areas at McGovern Elementary and Winston Middle School. Mentoring opportunities abound while working alongside youth. Kids involved with gardens benefit educationally in areas of the sciences, math, language arts, and social studies, and also emotionally by fostering a sense of well being. Gardens give the venue to teach about responsibility & community service. Kids who help grow their own food are more likely to make healthy eating choices and will grow physically fit.
We are so grateful to have this opportunity to collaborate with the Winston-Dillard School District on this project, along with local individuals and business that have been donating time, expertise, and materials. The “growth” potential for a project like this is unlimited. We welcome your participation in this effort to grow a healthier community.
